Blueberries in fall

Had no idea that blueberries have wonderful fall colors.

Third Blueberry Box

This box is actually half blueberries and half grapes. In hindsight, I would have put the blueberries on the sunnier side as the grapes go nuts. I'm regularly having to trim the grapes to make sure the blueberries get enough sun.

The bushes are going well in their third year (2025). However, they're not growing into a nice large yet.

The New 4 by 12 Blueberry Box

In 2023, we decided that we could always use more blueberries so we converted this box to six blueberry plants. In only their second year these plants have already started to produce some good fruit.

The First Blueberry Bush, Before and After

I found a photo from right after planting our first blueberry bush in 2022. This was such a success, as can be seen, with the main bush growing to six feet tall and producing very well for the last few years.

Second Blueberry Box

This was the start of our second blueberry box started in 2022. It's a 3 by 6 box so only two plants seemed appropriate.

These are doing ok. However, this is a raised bed on concrete with a wood bottom. Thus, the drainage wasn't good. I reduced the watering and drilled more holes in the wood bottom. They are now doing better but not producing a lot of blueberries.
